President Muhammadu Buhari has said Nigeria Bank of Industry, BOI has created over nine million jobs since 2015 he came into power.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a press release signed by Femi Adesina, one of the presidential spokespersons, also said the BOI disbursed 1.24 trillion naira to 4.2 million people in Nigeria in the years under review.

Presidential press release reads thus:

President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday in Abuja lauded the Bank of Industry (BOI) for creating over 9 million jobs in the last seven years as well as disbursing over 1.24 trillion naira to 4.2 million beneficiaries in Micro, Small, Medium and Large enterprises.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Second Tower of BOI building, President Buhari said that the Bank has continued to successfully execute its mandate as a policy institution of the Federal Government, extending single digit interest rate loans to manufacturers.

Commending the management of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and BOI for their contributions to the economic development of the country and wellbeing of Nigerians, the President said:

“In order to further enhance its capacity to impact the industrial sector on a transformational scale, I approved the issuance of a sovereign guarantee to help the Bank raise funds in the Eurobond market.

‘‘I am glad to note that the Bank has recently completed the transaction by raising 750 million Euros from international investors.

“The proceeds of this Eurobond will be disbursed to Large, Medium & Small Enterprises, and women entrepreneurs with bankable projects.

‘‘It is commendable that the Bank sources its own funds for lending based on its investment grade ratings by the rating agencies.”

President Buhari, therefore, urged the management of the Bank to ensure that its impact is felt all over the country.

On the new building, the President said he was “particularly impressed that this world class building was financed from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Bank.

“The building represents the Bank’s contribution to the growing list of work-related infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory. It is another remarkable milestone in the Bank’s growth.”

Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment thanked the President for the confidence reposed in the bank, appointing it partner of several laudable projects which have helped in poverty reduction, job creation and sustenance of indigenous enterprises.

He also lauded the President for approving the sovereign guarantee for the BOI’s maiden 50 million Euro-Bond issue which was successfully concluded in February this year.

He added that the feat represents BOI’s first Euro-Bond denominated transactions from Nigeria, which will create a benchmark for other prospective issuance from Africa.

Soldier On Viral Video Who Claimed Abandoned, Ran Away At Warfront In Niger State – Army

https://ift.tt/IkXzKhq Soldier On Viral Video Who Claimed Abandoned, Ran Away At Warfront In Niger State - Army

Nigerian Army has reacted to a viral video in which a soldier was seen asking for prayers as he said his colleagues ran away and abandoned him in the bush while in contact with terrorists group.

The distressed soldier who did a selfie video recording while looking scared, said he’s the only one now in the bush finding his way out for safety.

But the authority of the Nigerian Army in a Press Release few minutes ago dismissed the claim of the soldier and accused the soldier of trying to be smart in covering up the truth. That, he’s the one who ran away from the warfront and in order not to be accused of cowardice, he quickly moved to social media to give misleading information and wrong impression to win public sentiments.

The Army Press Release signed by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army Director of Public Relations, indicated that the soldier deliberately recorded the video to shield himself from being accused of cowardice in the ongoing clearance operation in Gurara local government area of Niger State.

The Army statement reads thus:

The attention of the Nigerian Army(NA) has been drawn to a viral video making the rounds on the social media, where a soldier on Wednesday, 30 March 2022 claimed to have been abandoned by his colleagues during operations.

Contrary to the claims and impression created by the soldier in the video footage, preliminary investigations have revealed that the video footage was a deliberate attempt to shield himself from being accused of cowardice, having abandoned his colleagues during an ongoing clearance operation in Gurara, Niger State.

It could be recalled that troops of the Nigerian Army, recently carried out a clearance operation in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.

Disappointingly, during an encounter, the said soldier abandoned his colleagues and absconded in an outright display of cowardice and possible sabotage, which negate the precepts of the military profession.

Sensing the gravity of his action and its consequences, the soldier surreptitiously uploaded the video online in a calculated attempt to whip-up public sentiment and cover up his act of cowardice.

The soldier’s action amounts to a betrayal of the esprit de corps and comradery that are synomous with a military unit and fighting formation, particularly during operations.

The soldier’s conduct is therefore an aberration and against the ethics and core values of the military profession.

The video footage is thus, in all intent, and purpose a misrepresentation of what actually transpired between the soldier and his colleagues.

The soldier has rejoined his unit and further investigations are currently ongoing to unravel the reasons behind his unprofessional conduct.

Soludo Visits Ukpor, Says Anambra Cannot Be Repressed By Few Unknown Gunmen

https://ift.tt/4DsLg91 Soludo Visits Ukpor, Says Anambra Cannot Be Repressed By Few Unknown Gunmen

Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has visited the Administrative headquarters of Nnewi South Local Government Area and one of the hotbeds of Unknown Gunmen activities, Ukpor, to assess the level of damage after the unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Biafra secessionist armed group set the council secretariat on fire.

It was gathered that the unknown gunmen carried out the attack soon after men of the Nigerian Army with high precision mass destructive war weapons which included armoured tanks displayed show of force in the area.

A security guard was said to be killed in the attack that started night of Wednesday and lasted till the early hours of Thursday morning.

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo while speaking during the visit, said Anambra State can no longer continue to be repressed by few criminal elements.

He said:

I was at Ukpor, the Nnewi South Local Government Area Headquarters and the scene of last night’s attack by some arsonists.

This mindless bloodletting and destruction of infrastructure does not define who we are! Nothing can justify these acts of criminality.

As I looked at what is left of the rubbles, I asked myself,

“in all this, who loses?”. Structures built from the taxes paid by the genuinely hard-working men and women on the streets are ruined for reasons that are incomprehensible to sane minds.

The resources that should have been deployed to providing more for struggling tax payers, would now be channeled into reconstructing these destroyed buildings and rebuilding missing records. It is very impossible to make any meaningful progress this way.

Quite frankly, ndị Anambra cannot be repressed by a few criminal elements. Our resolve to entrench law and order is total, no amount of wanton destruction will cower us.

I remember with a deep sense of grief, the three gallant police officers – Inspector Murtala Saudi, Sergeant Mudassir Ahmed, and Sergeant Samuel Ishaya, who lost their lives to the Unknown Gunmen who attacked us at a meeting with the youths in my village on this day last year.

We pledge to continue to take care of their families, and for their sake and many others who lost their lives to the sheer wickedness of a few misguided people, we shall not relent in our effort to make Anambra Liveable and Prosperous.
